Thinking of all of my work is overwhelming.  I need to grade, put it away, grade, repeat and rinse…

On weekdays, do not take work home.  It’s not worth the guilt.  I need to take care of myself.

I think my arms are sore because I lugged a 28 lb box of poo sand…that’s terrible.

Conversation with Mother:
M: What’s the expiration date for (an over-the-counter medication)?
J: I don’t know…I threw away the box (because I accidentally spilled a bottle of soy sauce….W: “The kitchen smells salty”…heeeeh)
M: Oh, I found it.  It’s on one of these.  Expires one three.
J: One three? (January 2003?!)
M: Yeah, one three.
J: You mean thirteen, right?
M: Yeah, one three!

Conversation with Father:
F: I rinsed the front of your car.
J: …just the front?
F: Yeah, up to the trunk.
J: So I have half a clean car…

I hate otakus…the ones that are not aware of how loud their actual voices are, how obnoxious their arrogance  is, and how incredibly inappropriate and downright insulting/hurtful their “funny” statements are.  Oh, if they only knew how much they are alike their mortal foes: the jocks.

Those who demand respect in order to give respect, the “got to earn my respect before I can give it” people, are those who have not been or have never been respected themselves.  They are afraid of trusting in other person’s integrity.  They are not worthy of being teachers and leaders, whose perspective of their students and people must be: “I will respect and trust you until you give me a reason not to.”

I hope that, one day, my students will be able to watch movies that are as subtle and “boring” as “Pride and Prejudice” and “Master and Commander”, and be able to pull out the “OOOOOOHHHH SNAP!” or “Oh no he DI’NT!” moments.

My alumni think it’s funny that over the past year, I’ve kept my long hair, pierced my ears, and wear non-running shoes.

Having running water at home is absolutely essential!

Went to 2 art events yesterday, thanks to friends who know good things when they see them.  Bought a print from Nucleus and these mystery box cell phone straps…one that I like very much and one that is completely inappropriate for me to have in my possession. o_O

• Monkeys on kids clothes are damn cute
• Be ready for anything within grabbing distance to be placed in the mouth
• Bathroom and kitchen will have tile flooring and mid-way up the wall
• Washer and dryer are a must
• Whatever was of value, be ready for it to be handled
• Decisions are made for the comfort of your child, which is very different from your comfort level
• Kids love to be held upside-down
• Kids love to be lifted into the air
• Parents needs biceps and some good upper body strength
• Teach them how to laugh and smile and dance early on
• VW bugs are pretty to look at but not very fun to drive
• Buffalo burgers are pretty good
